WHERE WE WERE
PRE 2018 ELECTION
In 2011 North Carolina Republicans drew themselves into a supermajority in both the State House and the State Senate using gerrymandered legislative districts. They did the same to our Congressional districts in the state. The result has been extreme policies that benefit the few and hurt many of our friends and neighbors in North Carolina. Sadly, we've been living under these gerrymandered districts ever since.

WHERE WE ARE
POST 2018 ELECTION
The 2018 election was a big victory for North Carolinians. Last November, the people of this state sent a strong message - we want balanced, honest, and fair policy. Despite running in gerrymandered districts, Democrats were able to break the supermajority in both the State House and State Senate. Now we are just a few seats away from taking back the gavels in both chambers and getting North Carolina back on track.

Election year 2022 is so important to NC! Because 2020 was a U.S. Census year, new legislative and Congressional maps will be drawn in 2021 and Republicans will do everything they can to draw districts that make it difficult for Democrats. It is so crucial that we have the resources to fight back and ensure that we continue to increase our numbers in the Senate chamber. In 2020, the NC Senate was one of the only Republican-controlled Senate chambers in the nation to pick up a seat, bringing us to 22 members, just 4 seats away from taking the majority in 2022!
